Vintage Notes The beginning of the 2019 growing season was defined by copious rainfall and late soil moisture. The long, warm summer saw very few extreme heat events, with foggy mornings setting the stage for vibrant and expressive wines. The long, relatively mild finish to the season, not without its moments of unpredictability, helped to preserve freshness and finesse in the fruit with abundant hang time teasing out great color, structure and soft tannins. Volume is looking to be about average to a little less than average. All in all, exceptional fruit with bright acidity and ample texture.
Winemaker's Notes The fruit was destemmed and pumped to the press. The must was held for an average of four to five hours in the press before the juice was pressed off of the skins. Additionally, we Saignée a small percentage of juice from the Sangiovese tanks after an 18-hour soak on the skins. The juices were inoculated yeast and fermented in stainless steel tanks with temperature control to maintain between 52-56º F for four to five weeks.
Tasting Notes Beautiful salmon pink color. Aromas of rose petals and wild strawberries carry over to the palate with the addition of fresh watermelon, white nectarine and white cherry. Lively acidity, with great energy and minerality, and a long berry finish.
