2016 - SEE Selection Cabernet

In 1978, Ron and Diane Miller purchased the Silverado Vineyard from the See family of California chocolatier fame. Originally planted in 1884, this vineyard was a pioneering site for wat would become the Stags Leap District 105 years later. Its modern history is even more important to Napa Valley viticulture. Here, after two decades of of careful cultivation, this exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon selection emerged. This unique “See Selection” is the ancestor of the Silverado FPS 30 clone, cultured by UC Davis and designated as one of only three California Heritage clones of Cabernet Sauvignon. The Miller family is pleased to present this rare bottling of the mother clone, our See Selection Cabernet Sauvignon, exclusively to our Club Members.

Vintage Notes The near-perfect 2016 growing season started early, saw ideal weather conditions throughout and wrapped up as the valley's first significant fall rainstorm arrived on October 14. Thanks to a relatively steady and mild July and August and then a series of warm days at the end of the growing season, vineyards were able to progress to perfect ripeness. Tasting Notes This intensely focused wine is presenting with mixed berry crisp, toasted hazelnut, and a hint of anise. Limited in production, this full-bodied wine is well-integrated, elegant and approachable in its youth.
